October 4th, 2002, David D. Parker bought a building that became the Whetstone Studio for the Arts building. This building was built on a dream. David has an eye and love for the arts. In his lifetime, he has worked hard to make a name for himself as an artist, whether he was working with wood or appreciating the beauty around him.
He used to always tell his granddaughter when she was younger, "Look Kelsey, what does that picture tell you?" He would always tell her that pictures told a story. He had a dream to create a work environment that artists could feel comfortable in and a space where they could express themselves in whatever way they created their own opportunities.
In 2011, that dream hit a snag. There was a terrible Hurricane that wiped out the back end of the building. All of the artists working there at the time had to stop working out of the building while renovations took place, due to the fact that it was unsafe.
This did not stop David from continuing to achieve his dream. With his daughter Hannah Parker by his side, he was unstoppable. He managed to achieve his dream, and his Daughter Hannah still working right by his side and taking care of the management of the building. Due to David not giving up on his dream, everyone that is now renting has the chance to achieve theirs.
